Nice to meet you.

Wife. Mom. Wrangler of two delightfully chaotic corgis. Self-declared real-life Poison Ivy with an entirely reasonable (read: slightly alarming) plant obsession.

I drink an irresponsible amount of coffee, soundtrack my life with emotionally devastating playlists, and firmly believe every story is improved by yearning, banter, and at least one scene that makes readers ugly cry. I have a soft spot for superheroes, westerns, sapphic longing, impossible romances, and beautiful things that leave permanent emotional damage.

Some of my favorite childhood memories are of spending Michigan summers curled up beside my grandmother, disappearing into books for hours at a time. Reading eventually became writing, and storytelling has been my favorite adventure ever since.

Like many writers of my generation, I cut my teeth on fan fiction, learning how to explore character, heartbreak, humor, and hope inside worlds I already loved. Though I’ve long since traded fanfic for original novels, the lessons—and lifelong friendships—I found there remain some of the greatest gifts writing has ever given me.

These days you’ll usually find me writing romance with sharp banter, complicated people, and happily-ever-afters that feel hard-won. Whether it’s a swoony contemporary, a gun-slinging historical western, or something with a little speculative weirdness sprinkled in, my stories are ultimately about finding home in another person.

When I’m not writing, I’m probably heckling batters at Mariners games, losing track of time at Renaissance Faires, shuffling a Commander deck, attempting a crochet project that has gotten wildly out of hand, or brewing beer with my favorite human—that guy I married.

I live in the Seattle area with my husband, our three delightfully chaotic kids, Asuna (our sweet corgi), and August, our tiny orange agent of chaos who firmly believes every day is an opportunity to commit at least one misdemeanor.

I am the author of We’d Know By Then and the Bargains & Bounties series, including The Devil’s Backbone and The Deputy and the Devil.

If you came looking for kissing under impossible circumstances, women with knives, morally complicated cowboys, impossible yearning, or people making catastrophically emotional decisions, you’re in exactly the right place.
